Mooladhara Chakra

The Mooladhara chakra is responsible for the memory and emotional balance because it is the starting point of the left sympathetic channel where all the individual and collective past is found. Furthermore, it regulates the emotionality of the human being. When a person’s Mooladhara chakra is awakened, it brings wisdom, strength of devotion, innocence and purity: such a personality is auspicious, and brings to its environment the luck and the dynamism of the Divine Bliss.

Physiological functions: it is in charge of regulating sexuality, reproduction and excretion. There is a relationship between the Mooladhara and the “Cerebellum” “the part of the brain that intervenes in the maintenance of physical balance.” The Mooladhara is in a symbolic relationship with the element Earth, it emits, like the earth, a certain magnetism: this is what originates the sense of orientation (so developed in migratory birds, for example). When this chakra is deficient, this magnetic force of attraction is used only for the game of seduction and sexual attractions. As mentioned before, the Mooladhara chakra is in charge of regulating sexuality, reproduction and excretion. It can also be said that the Mooladhara, if it is the site of inner purity, is also the site of body cleansing. Its good functioning can be affected by the lack of hygiene.

The right Mooladhara plays an important role in the mental balance, this chakra is “par excellence” the starting point for the “middle way” and the balance in our personality. It is disturbed by the deviations that occur when one behaves in an extremist or fanatical manner; whether it comes from abuse or restriction. To exemplify, there is a happy balance of sexuality which is far from the “sexual liberation” preached in some media and the sexual abstinence practiced by others. It should be noted that the balance of the Mooladhara Chakra is not only related to sexuality but also to our overall behavior: in conclusion, it is best to avoid all extremes.
